Wednesdays Q&A: The Side Effects of Moving

Q. Why are you so happy right now?

A. I just got back from a fun girls only Halloween party (thanks to the girls who went out of their way to make sure I came) and there is no school Thursday, Friday and Monday (and no piano lessons.) SO we can do whatever we want. We,meaning me and the kids, because I am so lonely.

Q. So, I noticed your profile says you are lonely, is that better now, what with the party and all?

A. Well, it's hard being the new person and feeling on the outside all the time. It's hard not having people to call and talk to and friends to call if you need someone to take your kids, or people to stop over and say hi. Or even just people who want to hang out with you. But, I know it will just take time and I have to be patient. Because, I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and gosh darnit, people like me!

Q. What would you be willing to sacrifice to have a friend in your new neighborhood, because you know everything requires some sacrifice?
A. Well, I would be willing to talk about scrapbooking, and organizing my home, and bunko, and Anita Stansfield novels and whether or not we are "trying" (I did have someone ask me that already, I DON'T EVEN KNOW YOU! But hey, I'll tell you if you'll be my friend.). Heck, I'd even read Twilight. If you'll be my friend. . . .
Q. Are you serious with all this stuff?

A. Well, I'm being a tad facetious. I am a little lonely but people have been really friendly and kind. It just takes time to find a new BFF, other than Jason of course (you know I love you) and I understand that. So for now, I'm doing a lot of Family Search Indexing! (See my previous post.)

Yes! It is 11:48 and I got in my Wednesday Q&A. My internet was down all day but I did it with 12minutes to spare. Good night. My only friends. Aaah, sweet cyberspace.

Here is a picture I stole from my sister's blog. I love it!

You're funny. I love all the ways you are willing to "improve" yourself to fit in, haha! I know totally what you mean, although I DO read Twighlight and scrapbook (in a funky, arsty way that scares some woman off at scrapbook get-togethers).

And don't forget, I'm your friend. Let me know if you ever want to thriftstore hop together.

Luisa, you are so adorable, I'm almost willing to move to whatever neighborhood you live in now to be your new BFF simply because this post was so funny! I guess sometimes you DO have to talk about/do things that wouldn't be your first choice just to get out there and meet people, but don't change yourself, baby, just be yourself!
love ya,
Sara xx

I hate moving and switching wards. It seems like it takes such a long time to really feel comfortable and make friends. You can always call me...you know how long I can talk on the phone:). Good luck with everything!

ha ha, we are not that far away! and you are very outgoing, think of those poor shy people, how do they make friends??

It's hard being the new person. I think it takes a good year or so but I'm not outgoing. I look "snotty" or "stuck-up" at first glance (this has been told to me by several people). The worst thing about us moving is that I'm leaving good friends behind. It's never the same once you move. I alienated another ward member this week. I'll have to tell you about it. I don't think I did anything wrong but man, she gave me a crusty stare down at the gas station yesterday.

Oh and I think that sometimes people you didn't think you have anything in common with can become good friends. So scrapbook and Twilight read it up sista! I read the Twilight series and we're friends. See, it can happen.

Oh, my...we should be neighbors because I have the same issues, but I have found some sweet sisterhood in the oddest places here in Livingston.

I just came by to say hi. I miss you guys. I listened to coastal (and Kate St. John) on my new ipod as I was crossing the Atlantic last month. It lulled me into relaxation and then sleep on that magical Lufthansa flight. :)
