So, reflections is a national PTA thing where kids use their creative skills (spurred on by mom/dad) to create a project that reflects the theme. This year's theme is "wow". I'm sorry but can you say cheesy? Anyway, Mara wrote a little poem this summer that I thought would be a good starting point for a song. She wrote all the lyrics with a similar theme as the poem and then I had her sing it to whatever melody she wanted. We had her add a bell part as well and voila. . .a song is born. She's no prodigy but it's cute and sweet and she really enjoyed doing it and feels a sense of accomplishment.
(Don't you love my awesome photoshop skills? Hey at least I got the MP3 on here. You have no idea what a task that is. You can't just upload an MP3 to a blog.)

that sounds really good! seriously! you guys are impressive! mara, can i have a copy of that song for Christmas? (luisa, i'm serious, will you ask her for me?)
I got ambitious enough to get the entry forms this year, and then I saw that you had to have some recorded version of the music one, and I gave up. I am technologically challenged when it comes to that. Maybe next year. I like the song. Jonathan made me play it over and over.
I'm impressed. Makes my kids entries look weak. I thought the theme was lame and basically let them do whatever they wanted.
This is so cute! I loved it. I am going to play it for Isabel tomorrow. I can't believe she wrote the words and made up the tune and everything.
