I might even be a rock star

Mara is obsessed with Hannah Montana, along with every other little girl her age. Granted she has never really seen the movie or the show (a part of one once) but since everyone else likes it, well then by golly, so does she. I know I'm a really anal and conservative mother so I won't bore you with all of my opinions on this whole phenomenon. One of the main ones is that being a rock star is not something I want my daughter to aspire to. But as I've mentioned before, nature has a strong hold on that child. Last week she sat down with Jason and had him write down her lyrics. Then he played guitar while I sang the song and made up a melody as we went. It was all I could do to keep singing because I was laughing and crying so hard. Nevertheless, for a 6 year old it's not too bad. So here are the lyrics for her song exactly as she wrote them. Maybe while we're moving we should move to LA and I can start promoting her.

"Let's See the World"

Lookin' in your heart
like everyone is noticing
Everyone can see the world
if you show them everyday

Uh-oh and what can you do for that?

Let's see the world together
(this is my favorite line)
like a team on a trampoline
Let's see the world
it's awesome to explore

Let's see the door---BYE!

Here's a picture of her from tonight. She was wearing that outfit already and posed like that without me asking. Yah, she's a rockstar.

Feel free to laugh at my daughter's expense. She'll never know.

Awesome lyrics! She's already better than half the stuff out there, I think she really has a career in her future:)

What a great song and a funny picture. I'll have to ask her to sing it for me :)

That is a great story! She is such a mini-Jason! It's kind of funny when our girls get to be six or seven and start emulating the "Tween" girls (Addie has two close girl cousins who two and three years her senior, and she gets all rock-n-roll when she's with them). I am trying desperately to make her feel like it's okay to be a little girl and not worry about fashion and music and all that KRAP. But with Mara, it sounds like it's in her blood, and who wants to stifle creativity like THAT!? ;) We miss you guys...

The lyrics seem good to me. I'd buy that record. Did I tell you we got Stadium of Fire tickets? Now I need to expose my kids to HM so that they'll be as excited as I want them to be about it.

Sure -- move to LA! Join us! Sadly, you won't escape the Hannah Montana phenomenon.

I am so glad your musical talent (and Jason's) are put to good use as Mara's parents. I would laugh, but I actually think it's quite brilliant to come up with trendy lyrics as a 6-year-old.

Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
