Nothing exciting. A trim and I went darker. (I need something closer to my natural color so I won't have obvious roots when it grows out.)
Anyway, as I was there and talking to my friend Jenn about the many hair colors of ME she said "You look good in any color". Now, not that I disbelieve her, because she is a very genuine person, and I have to say I DO look good in ANY color. It just made me think later Do stylists really mean it when they say that, or is that one of those -you say that to everyone-things
Here are a few hair stylist "compliments" that can make you wonder--

1. You'd look good in any color.
2. No, that doesn't make you look like a boy. (It goes with number 3 . . .)
3. Short hair fits you.
4. That cut's just right for your bone structure (face shape, etc.).
5. No, it doesn't look too young for you.
6. ME: "I was thinking of doing . . . " STYLIST: "I Love it!"
And last, but a personal favorite
7. Not many people could pull that off, but you totally do.
Have you ever heard any of those and knew you were in trouble? What have you heard that's made you second guess how good you actually look?
PS Jenn--no offense to you. I think you're awesome and TOTALLY believe you. It just some other members of your trade.

I just get really worried when I go to a new girl and walk in and she has hideous hair. I want to turn around and walk back out.
What's your address? I'd love to send you a coupon.
My stylist now is pretty honest. I know he wasn't happy when I told him I was growing my hair out. He likes me in short hair. He did say "I have such a great face I can pull really short hair off."!LOL! I'll take whatever I can get.
For the record, you really do have the face structure that pulls off short hair beautifully. :) I much prefer you with short hair! And as for roots, I love demi-permanent hair color. It fades enough that there aren't really noticeable roots.
I haven't been to that many stylists and I rarely do anything drastically different with my hair (except for the last year or so, I guess), but no one has ever made those types of comments to me! The one I always get is, "I can't believe how thick your hair is!" I wonder whether it really is that amazingly thick or they're just making hair conversation.
It's quite possible that I've had some insincere stylists in the past. I know I've had my fair share of lousy ones that NEVER got my hair right. I finally found one I love. She not only gets it right, she is so honest, she'll even argue with me and tell me, "That probably won't look good with your face shape, let's try it like this.", etc. And she's always right. I want to keep her forever. (o:
PS You look so cool with short hair. It's just YOU and you and totally pull it off. What bugs me about me, is I have so many people who are passionate that I look great with LONG hair, and then probably just as many that say I look best with SHORT hair. Urghh...Why are people so opinionated about my hair??
Maybe hair stylists are more honest than you think. When I was fifteen one told me, with a very disgusted look on her face, that I needed to wash my hair more often. It really built my self confidence and made me want to go back to that salon again! :)
Megan--they can't be that honest with me or else they'd be saying the same thing to me. You know all about my personal hygiene routine!
I just think it hillarious how every person who sits in my chair apologizes about their hair, sorry its so gross! it makes me laugh, really why wash your hair when your going to get it done anyway. also Luisa i'll be honest you probably wouldn't look good with platinum hair, sorry. and you know just like with any other field your gonna get some good ones and some bad ones and some honest ones and some who will say anything to just make you happy or make you leave, I've had client where I just want to be done with them, they are so mean or som onry that I don't really care i'll say whatever to get them to leave, so don't be rude to your stylist it definatly doesn't pay just like you should never be rude to the person that is preparing your food. thats all I have to say for now, but believe me I have had some horrible stylists before so if you find someone you like, stick with them, it is scary how bad some people are at hair!
oh about the first comment made my hubby has a good joke, if you walk into a barber shop and there are 2 barbers working go to the barber with the bad hair cut! (get it they probably cut eachothers hair, so you can't always judge us by our hair cause I really can't cut my own hair no matter how badly I wish I could!
