On a different note

Doomed or Destined
Today in church I was asked to be the Children's Chorister. (Primary Chorister in mormon speak.) It may be a new record in that I attended the full church meetings one time before being called to help with the kids. I can't quite figure out if either I did something really bad in a previous existence and so am doomed to repeat the same things over and over or that I am just destined to this because of some special skills. I guess it depends on your perspective.

Defying Modern medicine
Happy birthday today to my Father-in-law who is now 79. It's amazing that he has lived to such a ripe old age when you consider that he exists on soda, cheese, pickles, cheetos, hershey bars and fried chicken and his daily exercise regiment consists of pulling himself out of bed with his walker and heading over to the recliner for a hard day's worth of TV watching. It truly is a miracle that he has lived this long and I'm grateful that my kids get to know him because you really haven't lived until you've experienced a little Delbert!

Decisions, decisions
My kids got haircuts this week thanks to the talented and skilled Jenn. Mara is still getting a bob to even out her haircut she gave herself and Asher has the nice buzz for the summer. (I couldn't get the kids to stop being silly for the picture.)

But what do you do with a baby whose hair is a little longish in the back,

a little baldish in the front (she was mad b/c she wanted the camera)
and a bit sticky-outish on the sides?

Delivery time
We've been doing a lot of furniture shopping and we will be getting a dresser delivered and finally have our furniture situation figured out. In a new house it is always hard to see what fits where and we've had to sell a few pieces and then purchase new ones. My kids have enjoyed the shopping as you can see from the attached picture. I found this in the car and Mara must have drawn it as we were heading to the pictured location. Maybe we've done a little too much shopping as this appears to be their new "home away from home."
So here is a little update on some of our recent (boring) happs. What's up with you?

Ugh, that is such a pet peeve of mine (and I've got quite the list!) Why do they always call brand new people in the ward to Primary callings? It is near impossible to meet people and make friends when stuck in Primary. Good luck!

What's up with us is that apparently NO ONE is buying houses out here right now. Hmm, gas prices? I was hoping SOMEONE would have overlooked that little detail...

I went to look at the house in north Orem and it was a disaster. Too many things to fix but it was in a great location. Getting new furniture is fun! Can't wait to see it.

About the baby hair question - Elizabeth's was WAY worse. No hair in the front until half way back her head then it was three inches long and stood STRAIGHT up. We shaved her head at 3 months and 6 months and then it finally grew in right. I would say a little gel and maybe a headband (if she'll leave it on) would do the trick. For Elizabeth I'm still trimming the back until the front cathes up, and she's almost 19 months, so it's an on-going problem. But just be grateful it's not worse!

Yeah, 2 weeks after we moved in, we got called to Primary - just when I was finally able to go to RS the whole time.....it bugs me, but sorry Luisa - its your fault that you're so talented (ha ha).
The kids have cute haircuts - I just gave Kaleb one & now he looks weird without the curls & its poofy on top....so, I'm the last person to give you hair advice (ha ha).
We LOVE Ikea too - your kids know where to get the good stuff - we're still in need of furniture to fill up these big rooms, have fun! :D

My condolences on your new calling. I wish I had a better attitude, but I have had that calling for 15 months and it makes me want to be inactive. Thing is, I don't really know why...I love the kids, the music is great...I suppose it's just so much WORK on the sabbath. Oh, and the Primary room is 85 degrees...I sweat BUCKETS. And I miss grown-ups. I will probably have to be the chorister until I like it, and I can't foresee that happening. SIGH.

PS: just be patient with that cute baby hair...all 3 are adorable!

PS: Mara, I like IKEA, too. I feel shiny-happy whenI take my kids there, just like your picture. [Besides, you can't beat checking the kids into smal-land and taking a little break with some lingonberry juice upstairs! ;)]
